Which lawyers impress with their special professional competence, excellent reputation and strong market position? Every year, the US specialist publisher Best Lawyers investigates this question and identifies the most renowned attorneys in Germany, Austria and Switzerland in an elaborate peer review process on behalf of the Handelsblatt .
As part of this selection process, attorneys make recommendations for colleagues who particularly impress them in certain areas of law. The basic idea is that the lawyers themselves are the ones who have the necessary expertise to assess excellent legal performance.
Self-nominations are expressly excluded – only third parties, i.e. other lawyers, can make a recommendation. In this way, the procedure ensures that only those who have distinguished themselves among their peers through particular professional quality and reputation are honored.

Dr. Markus Wekwerth received the award in the field of intellectual property law. He has also been representing and advising national and international companies on intellectual property rights for many years.
